Young Children’s Program (3-6 years)
Dance Studio No. 1’s celebrated and developmentally-appropriate Young Children’s Program is designed for children ages 3-5 years. Created by Artistic Director, Elizabeth Banke, the curriculum for “Pre-Ballet I & II” and “Pre-Primary” provides important early dance training within a fun and creative learning environment. “Pre-Primary” bridges our Young Children’s and Foundation Ballet Syllabus programs.
Pre-Ballet I (Students must be 3 years old)
Pre-Ballet I is a 45-minute ballet and creative movement class that encourages children to express themselves through a variety of music and movement styles. The class builds on natural motor skills (walking, running, hopping, etc.) already mastered by the young child. During class, children learn to respect and appreciate each other’s space and efforts. The class ends with a 15-minute tumbling and mat work to improve flexibility and strength.
Pre-Ballet II (Students must be 4 years old)
Pre-Ballet II is a preparatory dance class, introducing placement, posture, form and rhythm, as well as the coordination of simple dance steps. Many exercises are set to songs making the combinations easier to remember. The class ends with a 15-minute tumbling and mat work to improve flexibility and strength.
Pre-Primary (Students must be 5 years old)
Pre-Primary is the graduating class of our Young Children’s Program and the first level of our Syllabus Ballet Program. Pre-Primary exposes students to Ballet, Tap and several performance opportunities.
