Summer Ballet Intensive (offering the International Dance Acclaim Awards) (ages 6 – 18)
The Ballet Intensive is a two-week intensive Ballet program where students prepare for the International Dance Acclaim Awards (I.D.A.). The I.D.A. Awards are a series of distinctive choreographic compositions in different levels that students study in class over the two-week camp. At the end of the camp, students perform this work before an audience of parents and friends. A student will study one level per summer with each level becoming progressively more challenging and thus, providing an opportunity for beginning through advanced dancers to participate. “Awards” day traditionally falls on the Saturday following the two-week intensive when a guest judge from the I.D.A. officiates the Awards presentation. Each student receives a medal and a certificate for their efforts. Each morning begins with a Ballet class, conducted in three different studios at three different levels. Students then have classes in Choreography, Modern, Character, Alignment, Nutrition or Dance History.
